So, I just got a 2002 Cavalier last week. A few days go by, no problems. One morning, I'm going to work, but the car won't start. I give it a jump and it starts fine. After work I come back out to my car and see that for some reason the brake lights are on. I figure they're draining the battery. When I stop the car, the lights are off, but sometime after they turn on again on their own. I've found that if I tap the brakes after stopping the car, the lights don't go on later. Nice temporary fix, but I was wondering if anyone here knew a long term fix for this problem.
TIA.
Sounds like a bad brake light switch. G.M. part # 12450036 cost at the dealer is a
whole $ 7.30 retail. Its not an expensive fix.
Good Luck
Semper Fi SAINT. May you rest in peace.
