So, we got like a total of 3.5feet of snow over thanksgiving weekend, and I went out for a drive as it was falling... all was fine, but my ABS ended up kicking on pretty hard when i came to a stop at a stopsign - right after that, my ETS off light came on, followed by the CEL. I figured I'd give it a couple days - maybe i just got some snow somewhere it didnt belong, but both lights are still on... any ideas? it drives fine - same as always.. and its not like the ETS actually does anything anyway, but the lights are driving me nuts.
anyone got any ideas what it could be?
thanks in advance.
Have it scanned, you might have an ABS Sensor out.
96 Sunfire Gt w/2.4, auto. When I bought the car it had CEL & ETS lights on. After scanning it, fixing the O2 sensor, then clearing the code, both lights went off. Hope this helps. good luck.
hey dave, when you got your codes scanned, was it the o2 sensor code being thrown? i'm having the exact same problem with my 96' sunfire 2.4 auto. But i got my codes scanned and it came back as my tcc realease circuit. I got a question, did your car idle funny when u first started it when your O2 sensor was gone? cause thats what mine is doing and i think its cause i changed it to a bosch sensor, and i'm getting rid of it tomorrow. putting in a ac delco. I'm just wondering cause mine sounds like its doing the exact same thing. Oh, one more question, did your cel shut off after 3-4 drive cycles? thanks for any help srry bout the long post
Adam, Yes the O2 code number was being thrown (Bank1, sensor 2, if I remember correctly). The car idled fine before and after the O2 change out. The original was AC Delco and the replacement was Bosch w/o any problems. I have an Actron scanner and cleared the codes myself after O2 replacement. Sorry for the slow reply, but I only have access to the Internet on rare occasion. Good luck.
ok - so i had this fixed about a month or so ago - turned out water had "rolled off my fender and into the computer compartment" so said the mechanic. he replaced a few fuses, and then the lights went off and all was well. it rained REALLY hard here last night, and this morning, the lights are back on... couple questions...
a) does this seem like a legit diagnosis? (anyone ever heard of this?)
b) any ideas on how to prevent this from happening?
c) any idea which fuses I would need to replace to fix it again?
was $150 bones to have the jackball mechanic replace em, and thats just stupid.
help, please...
