weird problems
Thursday, November 24, 2005 6:44 PM
I changed my front brake pads the one day. After I did that I installed a switch to hook up my light under my dash. I am using the power that goes to my window switches since it is an ignition wire. I drove to the gas station and got gas and after I got gas I started the car and ever since then the abs light and emergency brake light has been on and won't go away. What could be the cause of this and how could I fix it?

start with looking at the fuse i went about it backwards starting with the ABS first when it was a fuse and a bad ground (rust) maybe try using the cig lighter as power do you use a car manual for the wiring? theres no wire leading to any abs from the window or interior lighting ??? hmmm theres pink 10a fuse ----alarm.....orange10a fuse---int lamp...orange20afuse---ext lamp etc.....?

So you checked the Brake Fluid level first?

This might be a separate problem-low brake fluid should bring ON the ABS and Emer Brake light.

Just check the level to be safe

check brake fluid level and the emergency brake make sure the fluid is full and the e-brake is off.

Does the Wheel Speed sensor have anything to do with the ABS? I'm not sure but I thought I read that somewhere. I know that if you hit that sensor when you're changing your brakes, something can go wrong but i don't remember if it was the ABS or not. Anyone else heard this?

I have checked the fluid and it is fine. I never had to add any at all. The emergency handle is all the way down. I slammed it up and down a couple times thinking maybe the sensor was sticking or something but I guess not. I will try relocating that switch and see what that does. Thanks alot for everyones help. I appreciate it. If the switch relocating doesn't work then I will go to GM and get them to scan the car since I can get free scans whenever I need it. Thanks
