O2 sensor

Hi, i was wondering why my 1996 sunfire 2.4 , 4 speed auto, does not have a 02 sensor after the cat?there is no fitting for one, and there is no wire leading there.. the exhaust is still factory, and nothing has been modified or changed.. this just puzzles me, because i know there should be one. I had it plugged into a computer and it said there should be one.. any ideas???? thanks

There most definately should be one just aft of the cat.. It's there as a watchdog to make sure that the cat is doing it's job. Although...where did you buy the car/drive the car? Maybe yours didn't get fit with the typical extra anit-pollution junk cause of where it was sold.

There is one after the cat and I think someone posted that there is one under the heat shield.

I bought the car in canada, where i live, the car was previously owned by someone from canda as well. i'm from manitoba, i'm not 100% sure but i think so is the car.. its weird because i know there should be one, and there isn't, nothing is damaged, and it appears there never even was one. i'm running 100% stock exhaust, i hope this makes sense. thanks

96 and 97 Z24 may not have the 2nd O2 sensor in Canada. My friend 97 Z24 doesn't have it.

Don't forget, Canada doesn't have the same emission law as the US.

It's normal. It's still OBDII tough. Just easier when you do your exhaust.

Well thanks for the insight, now i don't have to sit here and wonder... will this affect my fuel mileage at all? cause mine seems to be a little harder on gas, other than some other 2.4 owners i know. Just wondering, the best i've ever gotten is 34 mpg, and that was driving it like a grandma. thanks again
