How to test block heater?

How can i check my block heater to see if it works? just wanna be safe before it gets real cold.

plug it in and either listen and see if you hear any faint noise, or if it gets warm around the block heater.. then you'll know it works

Yeah, just plug it in and you should hear a sound like an electric kettle or you can listen at the end of the extension chord and you will shold hear a "spark" noise. 99% of the time this means it works.

i want a block heater, where can i get one for a 2.4L

i'd say plug it in, and come back after about 30 minutes, and see if block feels warm near it too

ive seen the magnetic ones at princess auto. there kina iffy i think.
and a good one at canadian tire. there pretty cheap. wally world might have them too

they have a few diff kinds at JC Whitney and advanced auto, im gettin an inline one from advanced for $25, it just gets plumbed inline with your heater hoses, and warm up within i think 2-4 hours
