now i posted months and months ago how i had a ticking problem and ill explain ow it ticked just incase you guys have this problem
the ticking nose was barely heard at startup.
as the car warmed up the ticking noise got luder and louder
once at running temperature it was a loud tick and the ticking would go faster as my rpms did, until 3.5 rpms where my engine noise would be to loud to hear it anymore.
almost every one hear told me it was timing chain,or tensioner or bent valves
also had 2 mechanics say the same thing, but i didnt have the money for it.
and that sounded like the problem...made sense..
BUT!!
my brother works at a shop and he said the 2 guys that worked there were amazing for finding problems out..... and i have had the ticking for 6 months now if not longer.
so i had the money, so i brought it down to the shop and right when i started it they said it wasnt timechain or valves and tensionser....but a compressions problem.
they asked when this problem happen did i change the spark plugs. now that i think about it i said yes i had a mechanic do it.
so they went to check if they were still torqued down correctly (i was like w/e no @!#$ way) and guess what
ALL 4 SPARK PLUGS WERE NOT EVEN HAND TIGHT.....
they regapped them all and put them back in , and vroom my car purred like a kitten.
and all they said is this is a commom for mechanics to read the wrong torque settings for 2.4L
so all this time the ticking was air being pushed out through my spark plugs during the compression before detonation.....
Sorry for the long rants but i wanted specific detail incase any of you have this same problems
my car has so much more power now that it recieving all the air its needs lmao.
I wish i would of checked my spark plugs myself, but i thought a mechanic did them why should that be the problem
wow, at least it's fixed, and 16 minutes of labor shouldn't be too much
well it cost me 640 since it was such a easy fix i got all my other problems fixed. i got new discs and pads and turned rear drums and new pads for the drums, fixed the clunk and dead point point in my steering.
alignment was done also. oil change and new oil filter, gas filter and new gas line to gas filter since it leaked after new gas filter was installed, nice undercoat so no winter rust.
so i think i got a good deal.
Cool, now if only there was a "rough idle solution" post...

Mine did that, sounded like a chatter box, sucked too, cause after replacing the boots twice, and changing the oil thinking it was motor related, i couldnt figure it out at the time. Now if i could fix the wierd idle on start up...
my 2.4L does the rough thing at idle
I start it up for the first time of the day and it has a rough idle for 30-45 seconds but then purrs, but it seems like every 2.4l owner has the same problem.

There was a post. On New calibration tables for your car.
It will cost around $100 and If the Dealership messes up your computer be mistake, they will not FIX it. You will have to get a new one. Not cheap!
There where many people that got it done, but I never really heard anything bad about it. People did said it HELPEd but I do not remeber if it corrected the problem fully.
Clicky for new calibration tables from Dealer.
