Tips on pulling motor and trans

Ok im am about to pull the motor and trans out of my sunfire. My buddy says I should put the car on the lift and pull the motor and trans together from the bottom. should I do this or should I try to pull it from the top?? can I pull the motor and trans out together or separate?? I have pulled a few motors before but not on a j-body. I just want some info or tips on pulling it.

I pulled mine out as one piece (motor and trans) from the top. I supposed you could do it from the bottom, but it seems like a little more work.

Im pulling the entire subframe out from under mine. Using an "X" lift unbolting the subframe and pulling it all out at once. Have to replace the clutch and it seems like its the easiest route. Borrowing the strut brace from the local dealership so the body will continue to have support.

It'll take me 6 hours to pull it change the clutch and put it back in there....but since its a weekend project with a friend who works at the dealership as a mechanic it shouldn't be too bad.

he said it was about the easiest way to do it on a 2.4 with a 5spd.

thats what I was plaining on doing, pulling the subframe too. I work at a shop and have access to a lift and air tools. just have to get it pulled and off the lift in a weekend, which shouldn't be too hard. I already have everything disconected and marked except the header.

Well hell, you throw a support in for the body so it doesn't shift/bend and the hard part for you is already done, lol.
