I have a 89 dodge shadow turbo that does that, I just had a new clutch put in that, so id say, you have a good clutch.
lol i hope thats the diagnosis lol

Your ECM will make up for engine load. Thats why you idle dose not change when your A/C kicks on. If you pop the clutch in 1st at idle, you will stall. If you just let off the clutch slowly at idle, you will move with out stalling.

i change it every couple weeks...i know when its going bad cus when i start pushing the clutch pedal and the rpms go UP then i know its time to change it..if i let it go long enough itll throw a code..chyange it and its good for a while..

not true...maybe its cus of my stage 2 clutch but if im at a light and i simply let off the clutch the car will "jump" off the line and simply keep going..now..i realize this helps launching but its a pain when trying to move slowly and i know its not "right" lol but i havnt the slightest idea what to do cus like everyone else ive replaced everything ican think of..ill be replacing my ecm this week in my quest to find my idle problem

sounds like an old deuce and a half, damned near impossible to stall
I had a stock clutch and if I eased off, it would get the car going. I'm pretty sure all j's are like that. I've got a stage 2 spec clutch, and if I dump it, it'll stall, you must have a ridiculous clutch if it'll grip when you pop it out.
that..or..its reving too high ...which it idles at alittle over 800 so i didnt think that was high

Idling at 800 is normal.

hmm, i can edge a little with mine, but it'll stall if i let too much clutch out, mine claims to idle around 1k though.
dude, it's not a problem really...my car's the same way. I can coast at idle in 3rd gear (15 mph) pretty much all day. I can use 4th like that on flat at 20. Can't accelerate very well from there, but i can coast.
The quad4 is a torquey little motor really, and the cavalier isn't very heavy, and first gear is really short.
