Found headlight problem

I just thought i would let everyone know whats been going on with my headlights in case someone else has the same problem.

I have been having the high and low beams go out intermittently over the past couple months until here recently when they both went out completely. I finally took a really close look at everything and it finally got visible enough for me to see and the main harness that plugs into the bulb appears to be melted around all 3 of the contacts.

Well what caused the problem was that I didn't pay attention to the wattage on the new super bright white bulbs I put in and they turned out being 80/100 watt bulbs and i guess it was pulling enough wattage to melt the plastic around those contacts.... Isn't 55/80 stock? Now I am going to have to replace the 9007 harnesses that connect to those bulbs.

I do have a few questions though... Do they sell them at autozone? And how would the ones I purchase from autozone stand up to 80/100 bulbs. It doesnt look like anything else other than the plastic parts right around the contact melted, so heat isn't really a problem with the bulb, but the heat coming from the power transfer between the contacts is what caused the problem. I really like my bulbs, so if there is any way I can still use them let me know.

Ok, to answer some of my own questions, I fixed my problem today. Advance Autoparts had a high temp 9007 harness for 12 bucks a pair. Both my headlights are back on and I have no worries about the harness holding up now. They say they will hold up to 150watt bulbs (I dont think they even make that high of wattage bulbs, but whatever) . They have a composite nylon connection instead of plastic, they seem pretty cool. Anyone else that is having problems with lights after switching to aftermaker ones, even if they aren't higher wattage may want to check this out and see if it could be causing your problems, cause the stock harness is crap. Anyways, just thought I would let everyone know how good everything turned out and how happy I was that it wasn't the infamous switch. Well peace out homies
