Weird stall's.
Friday, October 28, 2005 4:08 PM
I just have a quick question, which will probably get answered fast but here it goes... Lets say I am out of gear, and i rev my engine to 4k, when i let off and the rpms drop, the car nearly stalls out, sometimes if i rev it high enough it stalls out. (while out of gear).. What could be causing this problem ? Is it normal ? The car runs excellent so this problem boggles me.

I have changed the oil, flushed the engine, installed a new fuel filter.. new spark plugs.. injector cleaner and nothing... Car is getting around 510 km to the tank though so mileage is kicking ass.

Any help ?????

The IAC may not be working right. It helps suppliment the engine, acting like a choke to keep from stalling. Mine was pretty well carbed up at one point. Remove, clean with old toothbrush&carb cleaner, reinstall, turn engine on three times w/o cranking to reset the IAC motor, yer done!

please, how bout this, DONT rev it when in neutral! Mine does the same, or when the VSS switch is turned on and I burry the clutch. The motor is just idling at a lower RPM and it tries to get down there and it falls short and stalls out. Ur car is running fine, just don't rev it so high unless ur gonna compensate at the low RPM too, flutter the gas pedal to keep it from droppin tr8 to 800 RPM. The black smoke is normal too when the car is cold, just don't beat on it so rough. WOW! Did I just say that? Who am I to talk!

Black smoke 'normal' when car is cold??? I thouht that visible water vapor and light gas fumes were normal when cold. Last I knew, black smoke was from an over-rich mixture; like when you punch it wide open

Well maybe I am mistaken but I thought he was talkin about black smoke when he over reved it. I know lots of cars that when they punch it and its below the normal operating temperature range, a puff of black smoke gets let go.
