horn problem

Hi Guys:

I need some serious help. My horn will go off on its own when the factory ant-theft is set. By this I mean I use the keyless fob to arm the anti-theft (no after market alarm on my car) and within 5mins it will start honking repeatedly on its own. I know it' s not someone trying to break into my car since I stood in my driveway and watched, and sure enough the car horn will go off on its own within a few minutes. If I don't set the anti-theft then I do not have this problem. The horn sounds normal, works from the steering wheel normally, just have this anti-theft related glitch.

Please help.

Thanks

Sounds like maybe the sensitivity is too high on the antitheft.

WAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thats awesome! I know this kid who had his horn wired to his brakes, so everytime he hit the brakes, the horn would sound too! It was too funny! Followed him around one night, it was great! SOOOOOO FUNNY!

Scott

that really wasn't exactly useful, but it was funny

Well I learned something new about my problem. I was driving last night and the interior dome light would come on by itself, and then dim out by itself. This process would repeat itself about every 5mins. I have a feeling that the horn going off is somehow related.

Maybe for some reason when the interior dome light starts to come on (I haven't figured out why yet), the anti-theft figures someone broke into the car. The anti-theft then makes three horn toots (oh, by the way, I noticed this also last night, the manual says when you try and disarm the anti-theft, if it makes 3 horn toots, then that means someone has tampered with the car). After the 3 horn toots, the car goes into full alarm sound-off mode (ie; continuous horn tooting).

Last night I got pissed-off because it kept going off so I pulled both the fuse for the interior dome light and the fuse for the car horn. I obviously cannot keep the car like this (ie; no car horn.....interior dome light I don't care about but unfortunately by pulling that fuse out it means I have no radio).

Anyhow, I will check if for some reason the relay in the door is screwed up (may be bad contacts), and I will try a few other things, but if anyone can suggest something useful besides tying my horn to my brakes (although that would be hilarious in someone else's car) it would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Yeah it sounds like the switch for one of your doors is going bad, so i would check them first.
