I have a 96 Sunfire with 2.2L. About a month ago the original waterpump started leaking. I replaced the waterpump with a GMB pump (Prestone Brand) and that pump started leaking so I replaced it. with a pump from NAPA. Now that pump has started leaking. I am careful not to bump the waterpump....what the hell is going on?? Is it common for someone to pick up two bad waterpumps?? What is wrong with my car where it goes through waterpumps??? Please help as I am very frusterated right now and I am about to shoot my car.
Are you putting them on or is a shop doing it? Are you cleaning the gasket surface on the block before you're putting it on? Is your nose of the pump being pulled by the belt?

Where is it leaking? Around the gasket or out the front? If it's around the edges then it's an installation issue, if it's out the front it could be the belt is too tight.
I have a 96 sunfire with original waterpump..124k miles. knock on wood..
I agree with the others, it does sound like an installation issue when you had two new pumps leak.
