So for a little bit now my 96 Cavalier has been leaking coolant i guess. I had to refill it a couple of times but last night (10-24-05) i was headed home from work and my temperature gauge was in the red.....so I am guessing I have a coolant leak or something. I am not sure. and I dont want to ruin my car. so any help is appriaciated. Thanks
I'm currently having the same prob. I have to put about a 1/2 gal. in my 97 Z every 2 or 3 weeks. I can't find any signs of a leak. The other day someone told me maybe the heater core. It's been my experience that if a heater core is leaking you get coolant in the pass. floor. But if it's a slow leak it is possible. Problem is you have to pull the entire dash to change it. Let me know if you find anything out.
You get yor head gasket fixed? GM installed a guide pin in the head the wrong way, causing the gasket to fail. By now, may be too late to have them fix it for free. You'll have to have it done, gonna cost you $700-800. FAR cheaper if you do it yourself. Probably take the average joe 1-2 days of wrenching.
well I had someone look at it. He said it might be the water pump so now its in the shop....hopefully they will fix it.
Ok the mechanic looked at it. It is my Water Pump and my thermostat.....once everything is said and done and fixed....bam 300 bucks plus tax down the drain.
