Fuel Pump

Have a 2003 Cavalier 2.2 Eco.

Wouldn't start, whacked the gas tank and whamo it started...must be the fuel pump.

How much is the part, and how hard is the job?

I read around a little on here and saw something about pulling the g-tank out towards the passenger's side...think I should use a lift? How about a thorough DIY guide, or maybe a schematic?

Give me some insight as this is my first time screwing with a j...damned girlfriend's car, and they are quoting $500 & change for the job so I figured I would ask around before dropping that much loot on what could be an easy job.

Also I have to do brakes all around...what a shroudy product...hope the new cobalt is better.

PS Mods you should try and organize this forum with a DIY section with pics...for all members to access.

I found this while trolling around the net, scroll down until you come to Modular Fuel Pump

It may be just a bad connection, if your'e lucky especially as whacking the gas tank works!

Thank you for the links Alont, I was hoping for maybe directions on how to detach the gas tank from the car first though hehe...

Thank you in advance for any help that can be provided.

Actually forget it...just got off the phone with the dealership I bought it from, and I guess I'll just pay for the extended warranty and let those toolboxes figure it out

Hey mods I guess I should thank you for not deleting my account at my request lol

So I get the fuel pump done under the extended warranty, and @ the same time they do a recall on the tail light plugs...and wouldn't ya know it lol they broke something else on the car lol...not that those plugs weren't a PITA anyway...I don't know how many times I had to fiddle with them this year to get them working...so I guess part of the recall is to replace these plugs, and I guess it's just this POS car's luck that they installed a dud...and the techs failed to check it I presume since it was like that when I picked it up after the service dept had already closed.

I call them back and they are giving me the runaround why they didn't check into a CEL for an emissions malfunction while it was in there...bunch of tools over there I swear. I've had alot of cars across many different brands, but my god Chevy service does not like doing warranty work I swear...it's like pulling teeth and then they try to throw all these hidden charges @ you. I guess they are just following tradition of stealerships from the past.

I'm not ranting, I just wanted to report some $hitty service from Keigan Chevrolet in Franklin, MA...what's funny this is not the first time I've had a run-in with these knobjobs...last time it was brakes when the car was first purchased.
