Put my old deck from my truck (a JVC, junk very cheap) in my 2000 Cav recently so I could have my 4 tens hooked up, and since taking the stock CD player out my Odometer is not illuminated. Could this be a result of not using the expensive wiring harness and just the cheap one that doesnt allow for door chimes?
hit the top of your dash, sriously, my mom's 99 cav does this

Mine goes in and out. i'd rather not see the mileage anyway. (120000 and going strong). Did it not flicker or anything before?
Happens to me too the downside is the odometer keeps rolling. If you look closley at it during the day u can see the milege faintly. Let us know ifyou figure out a fix for it.
Mine is out also!! I heard that the only way to fix it is to get a new cluster! I haven't did this yet, but I want to!

I think you're right. a new cluster is the only solution.
search people search, you don't have to replace the cluster, its a blown bulb which gm doesn't sell, remove the bulb, solder a new bulb in its place
Have you taken it out recently? Sometimes it takes a few starts to come on- And on the newer Cav's they work with the CPU so the odometers won't read if they are not matching your computer- My dad does 5-6 cavalier's a week bought from insurance auctions and we have came accross this problem-
thanks 99firese. it's something i havent bothered with. seems a lot cheaper rreplacing a bulb.
So before they blow, do they get really dim first? Mine's not 100% out, but it's not 100% bright either. You can't read it in the daytime, and at night my mileage is barely visible.
Thanks!
