my fuel gauge goes crazy whenever i put the car in park, it goes all over the place. I noticed that it doesn't give me accurate readings whle i am driving also. so what gives?
somthing similiar happens to mine. most of the time, mine is stuck on the full mark even if its half or getting low, but when it gets REALLY low, it bounces all over the place. i just use my tripometer to keep count of my milage per tank.
i have talked to a few of my friends and they say it is the fuel float that is stuck at a certain point on the rod, and when the fuel level gets low it sloshes and kind of bumps the float just enough to bounce the gauge.
to fix this problem (which ive had the car over a year and havent fixed it because it isnt that big-a-deal to me), but you would need to drop the tank, then open the top round plate and pull out the rod with the pump attached and see if its stuck.

Girls make me mad and break my heart, but my car is always there for me.
Basically u would need to replace the fuel sender in the fuel tank to correct the issue.Gm is notorious for this issue.U would have to remove the fuel tank to do so as stated in the previous post.Getting a shop to do it will cost u dearly,so if u mechanically inclined and have a haynes or chiltons manual ,should not take more than a couple of hours to do by ur self.
