ok well my sunfire was drivin through 2 feet+ of water not on porpose (bad storm hit) now all dash lights are on (ABS/air bags, etc) i think the pcm was damaged, the car did drive home after stalled in deep water, there is water in the oil, it looks like chocolate milk. anyways i belive it will run again after i flush the engine, we got it home and parked it, now it only turns over and doesnt fire, so im gona hope its the pcm and change it...

anyways i dont really own american cars much, where it the computer located?, i belive its called the pcm in these cars?

thanks

its on the passanger side. take out the headlight and the front wheel opening cover
. there will be a rubber cover aroud it stapled togrther, underneath you will see a crap load of wiring, thats were you unplug it. you are going to loosen the horn bracket to pull the pcm. you will need to reprogram the new pcm but i forget how.

hope that helps with my shaty instructions. i took mine out a couple of weeks ago.

maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow....... but some day

got the new one in (used from a 98 grand am 2.4L auto)

now i start it and it will start and run for about 2 seconds then shuts off, then after that when i try to start it it sounds like the fuel pump never shuts off after turning the ignition on without starting the car, usually i hear it then shuts off then i start the car.. after i reset the pcm it does the same thing over.

basicly, it only runs for 2 seconds the 1st time i turn the car on, after that it wont start again untill i reset the pcm but disconnecting the battery..

sounds like you might have to get it reprogrammed, but I don't know for sure.

you are very lucky since you parked the car at home and there was water in the engine that it didnt sit and seize up your engine and rust from the inside.
