Intermittent Hesitation in first gear???
Thursday, October 13, 2005 9:29 AM
Hey guys....I got a 01 Sunfire with a 2200 and about 95000 km's on it. I just started getting this very slight intermittent hesitation when the clutch is still engaged in first gear. It doesn't happen all the time and I only feel it in first gear when I drive slowly from a stoped position or if the car is already slowly rolling.

I had the fuel injector and the throttle body cleaned last week but that didn't help and I had fuel filter replaced at 50,000 km's, so I might be due for a fuel filter change.

I took it to the dealer and they are suggesting that I change the spark plugs, the fuel filter again and recalibrate the computer.

What do you all think? I know other people on the org have had other types of hesitation problems...what did you do?

Thanks

That is all sound advice from your dealer.

Recalibrating your computer is pretty easy. Disconnect the negative terminal from your battery, and leave it disconnected for about an hour (you'll probably loose your clock and radio presets) but when you reconnect everything, your computer should be in block learn mode.

It may run a little funny for a while, but it's adjusting its settings, and should settle down after a day or so.

Sleeper style, they don't see it coming that way.
