2.3 ho intake manfold problem.....
Tuesday, October 04, 2005 8:00 PM
Ok i have a 2002 cavalier with a 2.4l. I swiched out the intake manafold with the 2.3l. Also the throttle body . Wene i start the car it revs out all the way to 6500 rpm. Could this be the throttle positioning sensor? I heard other people doing this on the j-body. Please help? THX

if the car stays at 6500 rpms and doesn't drop at all there may be a vacuum leak allowing air to bypass the throttle plate.

does it have cruise? maybe the cruise line is pulling on it all the way? id look in the throttle body if you could see if its open or what try to flick the thing a couple times see if it still wants to rev high

The tps or when that happened to me, I was using a 2.3L spring iac.
Well the psoing popped out and was sitting in the throttle body.
Needles to say i shut the car off immediately.

Basically though sounds like there could be a leak.

check you fuel rail where your injectors go into your block, when i installed my ho manifold i bumped the fuel rail which pulled the injector out just a little, and it caused the same thing
