Hey guys Was driving home today and about halfway there I stop at a light, light turns green and I go to take off and BANG BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM
The Drivers CV axle Knuckle broke off (the knucle going into the tranny)
Well I pushed it into a parkinglot and packed it up, got a ride and ordered a new cv, came home and consulted my handy dandy Haynes manual.
Ok reading the haynes manual this SHOULD be EASY to fix, a 20 min job!
So Now I ask WHO here has replaced a 4t40E CV axle and what size is the CV axle nut in the center of the hub?
Also what problems may I run into?
Is there any reason I cant do this in a bank parkinglot?
(ill have my jack rubber hammer and other tools)
thanks!!
30mm nut. With the wheel off, put at least 2 lug nuts back on (not too tight) and jam a big screwdriver into the fins on the rotor, to stop the rotor (and hub) from turning. Then undo the big 30mm nut.
Bring a good pry bar, and be careful when cracking the axle out of the tranny case.. don't mess up the axle seal. It's not hard to change, but not the best thing to have to do in a bank parking lot.
Awsome, thanks Just been staring at this post all night waiting lol.
Well off to bed now that I have some re-assurance!
