i've got a 96 2.2 cavy..........4-2-1 header and exhaust wrap w/ 2.25 exhaust all the way back, ebay intake, o2 sim
finally got everything back together tonight and it started on the first try (sweet)...then continuously ran richer and richer for about 60 seconds and stalled....there was smoke coming from the header but it didn't smell like exhaust, just the fiberglass in the header wrap burning off. also i don't think there is any coolant in the engine cuz i also replaced the hoses and this is the first time it been run in like 8 months. ran a quick diagnostic and the computer is not receiving input from the coolant temp sensor (i've got a gauge so i know the sensor works)
could my gauge be taking all the signal from the computer?? any other ideas???
preciate it
My 93 Cav (My info is only up to 94) has TWO sensors and I think yours has also.
There are TWO separate circuits
(1) The Engine Coolant Temperature SENDER has a Dark Green or Dark Green /White wire and operates solely the Temp Gauge.
(2) The Engine Coolant Temperature SENSOR has a Yellow SIGNAL and a Black ground wire and feeds directly to the ECM.
I think your gauge is working because the (1) circuit is OK
but Circuit (2) has a fault and is not signalling engine temp
Hope this helps
