I got a ī96 sunfire Gt, and i think i have 2 mayor problems with the car. The first one is that my transmission is kinda slippery, sometimes the car does it sometimes it doesnt, someone told me it had to do something with my gauges because the speedometer does not work properly. Anyways i think it might need a little work. (What do you think about the rebuild kit they sell at rockauto.com?)
My second mayor problem is that my car gets too hot when i turn my air conditioner on, i always have to turn it off after a while. Besides that, i feel that the carīs temperature should be a little lower, because theres a weird smell like something is burning yet my mechanic says thats ok.

Tranny auto or stick? Car shouldn't get 'hot' with the A/C on. Done a coolant flush at all? Good time for a hose and thermostatreplacement then, to. Aslo, radiator fan switch might've fritzed. Seem to remember seeing that here somewhere.

look deep under the car, and there should be a switch on the lower firewall on the passenger side, the switch reads "broken" and "fixed". it's probably flipped to broken, very common on these cars, then flip it to fixed, should run good as new.
Rofl mike, the burning smell might be tranny fluid, i would check the levels of course, and maybe look into getting the filter and fluid changed. For the A/C, something doesnt seem right with the coolant, or even the radiator, as the radiator cools both the Auto tranny fluid (which could be overheating thus the smell) and could cause the overheatting type issues too, but that could be far fetched.
