all of you guys that have a 2.2, how many miles to a tank do you get when your taking it easy, ( all stock)
i dont really take it easy but when i fill up i usually have 330
With 173,000+ miles on the clock, still getting at least 400 miles to the tank ('96 w/ '15.2' gallon tank) with some still left in it. Running roughly 30 mpg on average, up to 34 mpg on straight highway.
97 2.2 5spd with 110,000 miles. I get like 480-520 a tankfull.
98 GT and i get 22mpg with a 15.2 gallon tank, about 320ish miles or so, even on the highway its about the same (20 miles or so).
good atleast im not the only one getting crappy mileage
Well, 21-22 is said to be its city gas mileage, so it seems better than my Sunbird (used to average between 16-22ish, usually about 18-19 or so). I would want to think i could get better, but im thinking its the heavy foot.. Shift light que's are pretty good for the gas mileage right?
i dont really ever let it go below 1/2 a tank....so cant tell you how many miles but i can tell you ive got as much as 44mpg on all highway driving.....but usually mid 30's during the summer due to humidity
Exactly 30 on my last fillup.

Here's a heads-up: I was getting pi$$-poor mileage to, a while back. Changed out the O2 sensor on the manifold, an' it put me back to like-new running. May not work for everyone, but if the sensor's been in there a while for anyone, might be worth a shot looking into it?
I save my gas tickets and write the milage on them

This is in Tucson and this is mostly highway driveing with an 100% stock manual 04 ECOTEK cavy.

Very, very similar to what I get with my stock Eco 5 speed.
'03 LS SPORT COUPE 5 SPEED black with teal/silver pinstripe
97 2.2 5sp, best ive had was 420 to a tank, i coulda pushed it a little more but i just went and filled up while i could, lol, and all stock except for intake
Here's my tracking since I started it back in March.
Best is 32.01 MPG (Lots of freeway), lowest is 26.12 (lots of city)
Averaging 330-360 miles per tank. 2.2 5-speed w/ 148k miles on the clock.
The one tank with 10 days between fills was when my car was getting a new clutch. DIY project that took 3 days to do.

That's pretty good for here in Tucson. My 02 2200 w/92k gets about 38 to 40 /gal IF I am modest with the A/C and turn the dial down a tad after it gets cooler inside. Indeed it is nice when the monsoons roll through since you dont have to run the air as much. Gets about 400 to a tank fwy, which is not bad for about a 14 gal tank. Especially considering my alternate vehicles are an 87 Chevy truck w/a TBI 350 and 16 gal tank that gets less than 200 to a tank hwy, and a 68 AMC 6 cyl that has the 21.5 gal tank, and same fuel window. Our other car isnt bad either, a 91 Dodge Dynasty w/the 3.3 V6 gets almost the same. Very impressive for a V6, not to mention it has an R12 a/c system that'll freeze your nutz off.

i dont have a 2.2 but my dad does in his S-10(is it the same as the cav 2.2?) w/ a 5spd and he can easily get 600kms a tank thats a mix of city/highway... if he just drives to and from work which he does most of the time its like $15 every two weeks to fill it... pretty damn good... better than my Zed thats for sure...

I have a 2.2 eco 04 Sunfire with 55,xxxkms and I get a bit over 450kms/tank and I only use Supreme gas.
I refill at around 300 miles and get 30 mpg running the A/C and around 33-34 mpg the rest of the year. Highest mileage ever was 39 mpg. Don't think I ever got much less than 30 mpg.
God bless America.
Wow, mine sucks, I usually get 21-23 city and about 28-29 highway...some of that is heavy foot driving, but even when I light foot it it doesnt help much, same with the a/c on or off. Should I start removing seats and stuff to keep the weight down and the mileage up?

Yes, its slow...but I love it
I have only run about 2 tanks trough my car, and fill up at 300 miles on the odometer. 11 gallons even the first time, and 11.6 the second. So i guess i'm not doing too bad for a 2.4 5 speed, right?? Better than my mustang. That gets between 5-10, depending on how easy i am on the gas. lol
Sooo close to 11s.....And so far away w/the j-body. The project begins
over 400 miles on a tank (used to be 320 till I did some maintenance). Personal record of 45 mpg. Im going for 50 after I do some more aerodynamic mods. If you want to save gas on the freeway make your car more aerodynamic, dont use a/c and pump up the tires to the max cold pressure. Next up...belly pan and lowering to increase mileage more.
Anyone make a belly pan for their cavalier yet?
