i need help, desperately.

I dont know wtf happened to my car. I was driving down the road to my gfs house when all of a sudden i hear something pop and my whole car started shaking. so i thought "ok, my CV joint just broke or something" I managed to get to my gfs house and decided to leave my car there until the next day when I could go and take it apart. so next day comes, I go and decide to move the car to the shade so I can work on it, then i hear more popping noises. I come out and find that my 5 studs have broken off and the wheel is off the car, so im like wtf happened? I take it apart., I see no damage other than my broken studs. CV joint looks fine. so my question is this, what could it be? my motor mounts are good too, I checked those. when my car is raised and I put it in drive it sounds fine, but as soon as I put it in parking it makes a weird noise. now im stuck here, and i need my car in order to get to work and school. so what do u guys think it is? could it be my tranny , that it messed up and I need a new one? or what? im lost. any help appreciated thanks.

You have after market wheels ? yes? do you have the hub centric rigs as well? If not thats your problem replace the studs and but the rings that should fix it for good.

Good Luck

^^ correct. the studs broke more than likely because you dont have hub centric rings

you guys are alot of help thanks alot. youre right I dont have centric rings, reason being because I have no Idea what those are. where can I get those? and what are they? Do I juts go to any wheel place and ask for hub centic rings? thanks alot people. oh and my tranny is fine , the "weird" noise it was making was due to me putting it in drive, then in parking and thats why it would make that noise, since the axles werent attached there was no way of stopping the tranny from spinning.

The place where you bought your wheels SHOULD have recommended them if not there idiots do not but from them again. You can usualy pick them up from Mr. Tire or anywhere that sells aftermarket wheels. I hope you didn't think I was being smart with my responce I was only asking.

Anyway what they are is a little ring of useualy a composit material that slips over the center hub of the rotor and drum and is the same size as the hole in the center of the wheel. Some aftermarket wheels especialy universal fit style ones have a huge hole in the center to allow them to fit different cars. This hole is bigger then the center of your hub, that little lip in the center of your rotor and the center of your drum. Believe it or not
that little lip is what supports the weight of the car not the studs. The studs and lugs are ment to only hold the wheel to the car not support its weight. Sometimes you can get away with not useing them but as you found out sometimes you can't.

Good luck and let me know if you need anything else.
