I just bought a 1998 sunfire gt 2.4L about a week ago off a used car lot (huge mistake) When i come to a red light or a longer stop my car often starts to chug and then stall, no engine lights wat so ever come on. But will easily start right back up. This is my very first car im only 19 yrs old and i dont no wat to do. A canadian tire store wants me to put it up on a diagnostic test wich cost 150 that dont even include fixing it. Anyone have any ideas?? Fuel Filter?? Fuel Pump?? I havent checked the filter but don't know if that is the cause please help asap
well Amy Ireland
I would first get the fuel filter replaced, A tune up wouldnt hurt either, hmmm how many miles are on youre sunfire?
I was going to say that to. Tune up incase you dont know, plugs, wires, fuel filter, air filter.
As for your stalling problem. First thing I'd do is check for a vacuum leak. You can check what manifold vacuum is and that will tell you in a second if there is a leak or not.

It has 147,000 kilometres on it. I just changed the air filter, oil filter, and oil yesterday!! I am in the process of buying a fuel fliter so I will keep you updated!! just wondering if you had any other ideas. thanks
