Tires locking up on wet pavement at slow speeds??
Wednesday, July 27, 2005 4:19 PM
Allright so i was on my way home from work today, and the roads were a little wet. I was going maybe 25mph when i applied a little more pressure on my brakes to slow down to turn onto the main road, and my wheels lock up, followed by a long loud screech from my front tires. Scared the sh#t outta me. This has never happened before, nothing even close.

So i get to my subdivision and check my air pressure, a little low, so i fill all 4 tires up to about 32 psi. So i decide to try it again, going around 25mph and then applying a fair amount of pressure to the brakes. Same thing. Tires lock up and screech, and i pretty much have no control over the steering.

I take the interstate everyday to work, and im afraid that one morning when its wet i may have to hit the brakes from idiot drivers, traffice jam, etc and lose control of my car. Is it something else thats not working correctly in my car thats causing this? Thanks.

could be the tread on the tires are too low, hence bad tires and need to be replaced. or it could possibly be something the your ABS system. or the pads and rotors, brakes lines, or a combination of all of these things...but, i would get it checked out as soon as possible. only things i can think of, but i could also be wrong. so dont go flipping out and goin crazy over there, lol. but, def get it all checked out.

When's the last time you had your brake lines flushed and filled with new fluid? Brake fluid LOVES to hold in water when it can, which lets water sit and f*ck up ABS sensors. Flushed every other year, cheap compared to the $$$$ of new ABS stuff! All OE still on my '96....so far.
