Alright, when i first got my 97 z24 i could smoke the tires in first and then leave atleast a 10foot burnout going into 2nd. The car was completely stock then and had about 70,000 on it....since then its had reg. oil changes, spark plugs, the whole nine yards.....the cars now has aem short ram intake, lower motor mount and magnaflow catback exhaust....the car just doesnt seem to have as much umph and more. it will barely chirp 2nd....the only thing i can think of is i do have an exhuast leak after the cat. i dont know if that would cause that much of a power loss or is it just wear and tear of the car? it has close to 85,000 on it now.......any ideas?? thanks

It could be any of the following:
1.) Clutch slipping due to age.
2.) Tires different.
3.) Tire inflation different.
4.) Temperature differences.
5.) Engine just getting older.
6.) Intake and exhaust have the potential to lose low end and gain high end.
I know my '99 hasn't lost too much since I bought it. I now have almost 120k miles on it and I can tell my clutch isn't quite what it used to be. But then again I have different tires on it now. I know when I put my winter tires back on, it feels like a new car in a way since it is so easy to spin the tires in 1st and 2nd without trying.
I say fix your exhaust leak, run a couple of fuel cleaners through and see what happens.
Right on, thanks for the imput....i didnt know that intake and exhaust do more for the high end rather than the low end.....as for everything else clutch feel fine, but you could be right, same tires, same psi, and hell they are almost bald you would think they would spin easier lol...thanks though......anyone else?
