E85 and Jbody compatability

some moderator moved this post to maintence.. since when does the fuel you use have to do with maintence? I was wondering why no one replied...

here is is again:

anyone know exactly what jbody engines are flex fuel compatable?

http://www.e85fuel.com/

http://www.cleanairchoice.org/

I have found 2 gas stations in MI that carry it, they are kindof far away, but for ½! the price of 'gas' its worth the drive if compatable..

anyone?

Well listed on that site is a list of GM vehicles that can run on E85.

My guess is going to be that the computer programming and possibly some hardware must be fully configured for E85. I personally haven't heard of an E85 J before, but I know there were some Natural Gas powered models out there at one time.

It works great with my "winter burn" chip I made a while ago... its got a modified fuel constant and a much larger than stock advance curve. We put it in our Hornet and ran it 2 weekends and it was great till they disqualified us. We got a 3rd place..

If I run it with a stock chip or one of my wierd burn chips when I did when I was experimenting, it realy loses power. It needs some added compression..

It should say in your manual if your car is E85 compatible. I believe that mine (before the S/C anyway) was ('00 Z24) but it had a slightly different maintenance schedule if I were to run it on E85 with any regularity. I also seem to remember the manual warning that mileage and power would suffer using E85.

Most likely your manual will mention somewhere if your car is E85 compatible, and if it doesn't say, assume that it isn't and you'll be safe.

I read in a post a while ago (some others probly did too) about how someone got deasel in their tank... anyways it came up if E-85 works in our cars, everyone there said no.

You're reading my line-break, you are a loser. Lurch <3's the c**k.
