Spark Plug Gap on a 2.2 & 2.4?
Friday, July 01, 2005 6:48 AM
I recently purchased a set of NGK plugs, but I want to double check the gap specs for my car as well as the wifes car.

Mine is a 1995 Cavalier 2.2 (I read it is 0.060) is that correct?

Other is a 99 Grand Am with the 2.4l in it (same as a z24)

Any help with this is appreciated. And does it make a difference if they are the NGK Platinums? I always assumed the plugs now-a-days were pre-gapped, but it says to set gap on the package.

Thanks guys

I was reading too, that with platinum plugs the gap should be larger then a factory spec? How true is that?

factory spec is with platinum plugs

99 2.4 is either .050 or .060

i know my 97 is .060 , and my 00 is .050

Thanks for the help guys. Turned out they were pre-gapped, package said to gap to specs so I thought I'd check. Plus .... I never noticed that its on the tag on the inside of the engine bay.
