I was driving my fiancees 2002 5 spd cav today and when i went to release the clutch it stayed at the bottom. When I giggled it a bit with my foot it came back up, it did it again a little while later and she said it happened a couple weeks ago to but she "forgot" to tell me (women!!). There is plenty of clutch fluid but I noticed some reduction in clutch pressure (pushes in easier). Anyone have any thought on what this could be? The guys at the GM dealership said a new clutch + labour = $1000 Thanks
James
$1,000?!?! that must be canadian... most shops can do it around the 650 mark, but just because your clutch is sticking doesnt mean a new one will fix the problem.
If you can still shift properly, it's most likely not the clutch. If you have floormats, check them. Sometimes, my floormats slide forward and the bottom of the clutch pedal gets stuck on the mat. I hope that's it! If it's something else, that sux. Good luck

Luv u baby!
It also could be the clutch master cylinder. thats exactly what it was on my old mazda truck. it was a pretty easy fix. I did it myself. I am no mechanic but that might be something to look at.
