Hello, I have a 2002 Chev Cavalier, 4 cyl 2.2l with approx 90,000kms on it. This just started happening recently, when the air conditioning is turned on the idle surges from about 600rpm to around 1200rpm. As soon as I turn the AC off the idle returns to normal with no surging. What could be causing this? Where do I start to look?
Thanks in advance for any help
Clean your IAC (idle air control valve) it is located on the TB.It may have carbon build up on the plunger and seat. Remove it use carb cleaner and an old soft tooth brush on it DO NOT PUSH OR PULL on the plunger while you clean it.That should be all you need to do.
