So I have a problem with my brake lights. They come on when I turn the lights on, but when I press the brake only the 3rd light gets brighter. The other 2 stay the same. A few days ago while I was driving (with the brake light problem) my signals started to not work. So I parked the car for a few days without touching it and now the signals do work (at least for now). I replaced the bulbs in the brake lights and they still arnt fully lighting up. I would check the fuse but I lost the little pannel that covers them so I dont know which one it is. Any advise?
It is my understanding that it is a federal regulation that the third brake light, must be wired on a different circuit then the big two. The same thing with the dash lights cant be on the same circuit as the headlights cause if the fuse goes so does all your light.
Anyways I would start by checking your fuses is one blown, fuses dont blow on their own, it would mean a short circuit someplace, the hard part is finding out where it is.
