Here's the 411.
97 cav z24
260,000
new fuel filter
new fuel pump/sending unit
new plugs + tubes
It runs like crap, misses, sputters, sucks back gas, pisses it out the exhaust. Sounds like its only running on 3 cyl's. Code shows misfire on #1, switched entire ignition module / coil etc with a new one and still runs like crap, checked o2 sensor and its doing what it should, egr?.......... dont think so, injector?.........ordered one today hopefully its that, there is no short to ground on the injector harness. anyone have any ideas, i damn well hope its an injector and not the computer or there's gonna be a CAR-B-Q. Thanks in advance..
if its a specific misfire, then its something related to that cylinder. Its either spark, fuel, or compression.
If you've got good spark to that cylinder, then look at fuel or compression.

Yeah what he said a compression check is in order. Bad rings are coming to mind already.
- 2004 Cavalier - 124k, owned since new
She holds 150 psi in each cylinder, compression is good, still waiting on the fuel injector....................................................................
Did you replace the coil housing. AKA the white thing.
My cardomain
maybe a fuel injector is stuck open
Definately replace the coil housing(the white thing)
Graham
Stuck injector would piss gas out the tailpipe, and flood the cylinder so it doesn't fire in the intervening strokes either. Agree on replace the coil housing- that would definately affect spark. A good way to check the spark is to pull the plug out of the non-functioning cylinder, stick you're tongue on it and have someone turn the engine over....j/k
This may seem simplistic, but have you visually examined the plug in the bad cylinder? checked the gap? Thought of just getting new plugs and plug wires entirely (they're cheap and easy to change)?
its a 2.4 he doesnt have plug wires
2.4 doesn't have plug wires? That's cool. I've never seen one, so I didn't know.
Thanks for the replies, it ended up that the injectors were totally corroded and bunged up with crap, i'm going to the mechanic later, will take pic of injector, dont let this happen to you replace fuel filter every 60'000kms.
Went and got the car, the injectors were plugged solid at the fuel rail side, full of corroded material almost looked like sand and rust, cleaned out the fuel rail and all the injectors and now it runs like a champ!
hope your gas tank isn't rusting...
