Car keeps dying...

Pulled out from somewhere tonight and my car acted as though it was losing power~ it was jerky and shakey. We pulled off the road and put it in park, waited a few minutes and it was fine, so we continued on our way.

We pulled into Wal-Mart parking lot and the car was acting fine until it suddenly and I do mean suddenly died, but we were parking anyway so no biggie.

After leaving Wal-Mart, we got in it and it started fine-- like nothing had happend. So we left-- hoping to make home without the car completely quitting. On our way home we stopped to get gas. As we were slowing down for the turn off to the gas station, the car dies again-- but again it was easy to start

What's going on w/ my car?

This car be many things....

For one a failing camshaft or crankshaft position sensor will cause it to die suddenly.

Secondly a failing fuel pump will cause it to die to.

There is also quite a few other things, problems in the secondary ignition system will.

The first thing I would do it check fuel KOEO, and at a fast idle.

If it checks out okay, you may want to bring it to a shop so they can hook it up to a scope to see the cam and crank sensor patterns.

good luck

I'm hoping the fuel pump can be discluded~ I just got it changed less than 5k ago.
I know my check engine light isn't on at the moment.
& I did pull out kind of fast tonight~ seems like it started after I did that.

May be the throttle position sensor

coils
plugs & wires
map sensor
idle air control valve (iac)
throttle position sensor (tps)
vacuum leak
fuel filter
check connections around throttle body sensors. when my car was doing that i wiggled the connections while the car was running and found out that i had a bad ground wire running to the map sensor. fixed the problem and she runs fine (knock on wood)
