Exactly how hard is it to replace the horn? The dealership was going to charge me $150 to replace it, but I saw a horn at a store for $20. I'd prefer to do it myself if it's not too hard to do...I know where it's located and everything.

Easy. had to replace mine last fall. Mounting hardware was different on the new horn but everything fit in place. old one was surely rusted out.
^^^ what he said....its about a 15-20 minute job...maybe 1 hour if your really slow... should be 1 wire to the horn which is hot, and the horn unit grounds through the chassis..i wanna see someone put an air horn type on their j...

if anyone can tell me where it is i will put an air horn on there but i cant find it i looked inside the front clip via the black plastic section and i looked in the inside fender well i even went to autozone and puzzled everyone they had screw drivers and flashlights looking everywhere but i bought an air horn from them anyway its got a small pump and a tube with a splitter then two red horns i was ganna do it but i wanted it to work on the switch also i hit the button and hear a click on passenger side under the dash is that a relay or will i have to wire one cause of the amprage someone could help me out it would be much apprieciated thanks

u have to take your passenger side headlight out and its right there behind it.. hope the pic helps, and excuse my hairy arm.. its a 2 wire connector on mine, green and black..

yeh mines a 2 wire hookup also.. but im going relocate my horn inside my engine dept.
every horn gets water where its factory placed.... im thinking right near my battery.. its a kewl sweet spot... anybody know any LOUD horns.....thinkin about going with some cheap air horns.

yup right up front under passenger side head light w/ my drift kit, i can take mine out w/o having to do open my hood or anything. its right there in the bumper

Dennis.. yeah like those.. but harbor freight has those for around 14 bucks... i thought about trying those like that instead of the factory type horn.. factory horn wasn't loud enough for nothing.

i'd go for it...135 db has got to sound a lot louder than stock
i wouldnt wanna be the person to piss you off enough that you crack that horn on me.. i'd like to see someone with a bagged setup run a full truck air horn off their tank/compressor, and somehow get the horns to point forward instead of burying it in the fender like the stock horn..

believe me i'd rather have other drivers mad at me instead of not paying attention n pull out in front of me like they do around here, all the time..... =) yeh i thought the exact same thing when i had airbags on my pickup one time... either train or freightliner horns or one of those wolf whistle that valves thru your exhaust instead of the electric type... i heard those are pretty loud...

if u really want loud, get the horns off of a ferry boat.. i think its called a foghorn, not sure though...thats about as loud as u can get i believe..i used to work at Bombardier in Barre, Vermont and we would have to test all the locomotive horns...those are pretty damn loud too..it definately gets your attention! as far as how people drive, i know how you feel.. i live about 15 mins from downtown charleston, sc..

I was able to get to mine just by jacking up the front end (by the oil pan
) a little bit for room, then just reaching under the bumper. I replaced with 2 horns, a low-tone and a high-tone from Autozone. Both are 138 dB.
I GUARENTEE you've never heard a J as horny as mine

thanks alot dennis i would never have found it there and i live in a small town even the employes at autozone couldnt find it. i am going to move it but i wanted to find it so i could maintain stock buttons instead of having a new switch im going to replace my hi/lo horn and run another relay for my air horn lol i dont like where gm put it thou i will get it out i just have to wait for some better weather the ground is all muddy here but anyways thank everyone for the great help

Just why do we need a louder horn ? To get over your stereo or the kid next door?
I hate to buy a new house just so my windows don't rattle when one of the loud stereos come by. Here in St. louis, we are finely able to call the police on this type of problem.
They WILL be issued a ticket. Go to a park if you want to BLAST your stereo. Better yet, grow up and realize, you dont need to damage your hearing like that. Just to be like everyone of your friends. Just a thought.
