Well, i am gonna b switching my 03 cav to syn. soon. It'll have 22,000 kms when i switch over.
what brand do you use....and why do you think it is best?
thanks
i used to use mobil 1 but now i use royal purple since i found a place that sells it
the view is all the same unless your the lead dog.
Mobil 1 Full synth, 5W30 in winter, will more than likely use a 10W30 or higher in summer.

10w30 in the summer? but the oil cap on my ecotec says 5w30 ...
?
I am currently using RotellaT 5w40 synthetic. I work at a truck dealership and felt that if a 16 liter 600 HP diesel can use a 15w40 version of the same synthetic engine oil and get 10,000 plus miles it has to be good, besides it still exceeds the requirements for a gasoline engine. I have been using it for 2 plus years and have 92,000 on the car now with no problems.
I use Mobil 1. I will be switching to Amsoil in the near future, as I work for a place that sells it.

Only 2 places 45 mins away sell Amsoil, and they swear by it, though I have yet to try it.
I'll be using Mobil 1 for the next 10,000 miles lol, Pep Boys sent me a coupon where I could get a limit of 12 quarts at $3.99 a piece, I bought 12 quarts needless to say.
been using mobile one, i decided to try once over Dino and haven't gone back.
I use Mobil 1 10w30 in my 2004 SF supercharged Ecotec. The Cobalt ss also has Mobil 1 as the factory fill from what I,ve read.
Thats Him Officer The WICKED One.
vValvoline SynPower 5 w-30w for the past 20,000mi nothing woring yet.
so thats 4 for mobil ... and 1 for valvoline
whats the benefits/drawbacks of using 10w30 over 5w30?
Castrol GT Synthetic. 10 w 30.
Im a Xbox 360 fanboy...and damn proud of it!!
I've been going back and forth between Amsoil and Mobil 1. I'm probably gonna stick with Mobil 1 from now on since I'm just around the corner from Autozone, instead of having to order Amsoil over the net.
use only what is advertised on the cap, is says 5W30 use 5W30, not 5W40. it gets to thin at high temps, and can cause gradual damage. i used to work at a Big Rig trucking company called Arnett & Burgess Oilfield Construction Ltd. and out of all the trucks they have there, big rig or pickup truck, they only use certain oils. one truck requires 15W40 diesel oil, and if they put synthetic in it again, then the motor will seize up again. my brother put 10W30 in his truck once as an oil change. and nearly blew up the motor. it required 15W40. our cars engines require 5W30 for a reason, Because when the oils cold it starts out at 5 weight oil, then as it warms up it will thin out to 30 weight oil. if you use 40 weight, you mine-ass well drain the oil and fill the block up with your pee. it will do about the same thing. 40 weight oil is way to thin for our engines. its probably okay to add a quart when its low. but i would fill the block with it. oh and to answer your question, i use Quaker state High Millage oil. my car also has over 330000 klicks on it.

I use Royal Purple. No specific reason but a bit of trivia: comparison between Royal Purple and Mobil 1 (full synthetic on both) revealed that RP was 4 degrees C cooler at idle temp. No reason over the other tho, both great synth. oils
In my 40 years of vehicle ownership, I've used nothing but Valvoline lubricants in all of my motor vehicles. In over one million miles of driving, I've never had any sort of engine lubrication related problem or failure. I currently use 5W-30 Valvoline Synthetic in my Ecotec. In the 04 factory service manual, GM recommends only 5W-30, but also says that 10W-30 is
acceptable at outside temperatures above 0 deg F if 5W-30 is not available. To be safe, I would stick with the GM recommendation for your vehicle.
hey i got a quesion, during winter time did anyone use that winter oil from Canadian Tire for those people that have access to a Canadian Tire.

Quaker State Full synthetic 5W30 (looks like honey). I've used this oil for over six years on my Sunbird and decided to continue with my new Sunfire. It's a decent oil, never had any engine problems in my old bird.
My Sunbird.... Still has some attitude
0w40 Mobil-1
