Hello,
I'm new to the site (fixing a 2005 Cavalier for a family member). Just did the fuel pump, and felt pretty happy. However, I took it for a test drive, and noticed a ton of side-to-side play in the head of the tilt steering column. I took off the plastic covers, and found one of the 2 tilt wheel pivot pins was missing. Right side is still in place, but left side is completely gone. I read through this forum post, and it looks like it is fixable:

That is the exact same issue I am having, except I don't have the left hand side pivot pin anymore. So, a few questions:
1. Has anyone repaired this had had it fixed permanently? I don't mind using locktite to hold them in place even if it mean the column will no longer tilt.
2. Anywhere to buy these? I found other GM tilt steering pivot pins on ebay, but none that fit a 2005. I did find them at this link, but nearly $50 seems crazy

3. I can see where they go, but it is kinda deep in there. Should I take off the dash and instrument cluster? Right now, I have the wheel still one, but just took off the plastic surrounding cover on the the column.
4. Lastly, would it be easier to just replace the whole column with a non-tilt column? I found several on ebay, and about the same price as the 2 pivot pins I posted above. Is it hard to remove the whole column?
Thanks!
