I have a 1998 Z24 with the 4 speed auto. Yesterday it started to make a noise from the front end at low speeds (about 30 mph). The best I can describe the noise as is somewhat the same noise you get when driving down dry pavement on a tire with an aggressive tread pattern. I at first thought it was a wheel bearing issue. Today I took the wheel off, the brake caliper so I would not have any brake noise interference, put it in neutral and turned the wheel by hand. It seems like there is a squeak from right where the axle goes into the transmission. Almost sounds like something rubbing on rubber. Does it when I turn the wheel forward however not in reverse.

Any thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated.
