so basically i have a 99 cavalier for a compact derby car with a 2.2, when i stripped it i had no idea the anti theft system ran threw the instrument cluster until after i threw it away, so i went online and found i can use one from another cavi so i grabbed 1 outta a 99 but it was with a standard tranny but she fired her up. i went threw the wiring on the inside of the car to get rid of all the bs wiring i didnt need for the doors, stock fuel pump etc. she still fired upafter that but after abit she had the anti theft issue, i tried another cluster from another 99 cavi but it didnt solve it. im not sure if alittle bit of water might have gotten on the ecm and mabey fried that?the fuse for the cluster is still fine also. my main questions here are, what does the anti theft system all need to run? is there any wires that go threw the fuel pump harness thats needed? and is there any other way to just bypass the system and get er fired up
computer, cluster, key switch. can't have the ignition hot wired to toggle switches or anything like that.. you might have broke a wire when you removed the other stuff.. so check wires, connectors and etc.. do the security re learn procedure..
Have a nice day.
Since you've changed the cluster, you have to do a Passlock re-learn to match the ECM to the cluster.
Instructions are in the FAQ
well my cluster and ecm have been sittin outside all winter now so there probaly no good, do you think if i looked for a matching cluster and ecm both outta the same car thatd work for me
