I had an upper radiator hose split on me not too long ago so I replaced it. Ever since then the car has been having issues with overheating. I have replaced the cap with one from autozone and then again with one from the dealership. My car was running better but the coolant light was still on. I burped the system but now the light went off but the temperature shoots up even quicker. When the light is off it overheats, when it is on it does ok. I'm really confused and REALLY pissed off at this. It isn't showing any signs of H/G issues and there are no visible leaks. I'm very tempted to just replace every part of the cooling system so I know I have gotten it.
Any help is appreciated

Cant hurt to check the thermostat, but it probably needs to be bled more.
It took me quite some time to bleed the system after I put my built motor in. I had to pull it again shortly after I did it, so I ended up doing it two times.
Best advice I can offer is to make sure the coolant tank is the highest point, I have my car on jackstands so I lowered the driver side slightly and raised the tank as I was filling.
When there is air in there it can do all kinds of crazy stuff.

my car had a leaky head gasket a few months ago it leaked between the coolant and exaust ports in the block..it did alot of crazy stuff when it was leaking...it would put exaust into the coolant system and it would heat up within 30 seconds to a min. and the exaust would spit out the resivoir
Ok so driving the car back from work I had no coolant light and my car didn't even reach the halfway point on the temp gauge... I really have no clue what is going on
So it's good now? Maybe there were a few air bubbles remaining which had to exit the system.
I hope you didn't do damage, you said it overheated sometimes?
Mine runs mostly right where the needle points, about 1 or 2mm to the right of the middle, so if yours ran below then it's running cooler than mine already.
Ignore the dotted line.
Nope, today it blew up. Heater core, radiator, headgasket, all wasted
