So i woke up this morning went and turned my car on to warm it up, got ready for class maybe 8 minutes later i get in my car and didnt even make it 1/4 mile down the rd and my temp hand went all the way up almost to the red..id cut it off before it would get there...i got it to the end of the rd popped my hood and my coolant bottle was trying to release water so i cracked the top just enough to relieve pressure (it was spraying) then closed my hood and turned the car back on and the heat was back to half way..got it half way back to my house and had to stop because of a frickin school bus and the car tryed to over heat again so i did the same thing car cooled off so i tryed 1 more time to make it home and barely made it had to shut my car off and coast down the driveway so it wouldnt overheat.....Sat i replaced my plug wires, didnt really drive it much other than a test drive down the rd but i did smell antifreeze but didnt think anything of it sat night i took it up to the store maybe 3 mi from my house no problems on the way there i go do my buisness and come bk out abd find half my coolant on the ground so i didnt waste anytime and filled it back up with water and made it home and pulled it in the shop 10 minutes later its all on the ground again so me and my dad got to looking and found it was leaking from a drain coming from the firewall he told my it was a blown out heater core, so as a quick fix we blocked off the lines then it ran just fine but i didnt test drive it and now here i am stuck at the house ...im thinking/ hoping its just a stuck thermostat but im afraid i may be dealing witha warped /cracked head thats making me have some issues just in the passed 2 weeks iv replaced my 02 sensor, replaced plugs and wires had to clean my coolant bottle and it still isnt running good now this........so if u have and advice, suggestions, ideas, prayers they will be much appreiciated
is the coolant just disappearing even after capping off the heater core? If so, your headgasket is shot...I just talked about this about a day ago, search and you'll discover that 99% of the older 2.2 ohv's go through headgaskets.
You can always change out your T-stat for a cheap try, but that should be replaced anyways after a headgasket. Go to advance auto and buy the SUPERStant one, not the cheapest one they make.
not completly it goes down to half bottle but alot just boils out, and i did serch and i have more symtoms on the thermostat than the blown head gasket, cuz i dont have and oil/coolant mixing or white smoke...so im praying its just the thermo.but its been giving me alot of problems latly

When you say older 2.2ohv's.....you mean 95-97? or the ones older then those? like 94 and down
Mainly 95-97's have this problem from my experience. Go change the thermostat out, it's a cheap try and won't hurt.
yea i gotta wait for my dad to come home..lol ill letcha kno wat my results are..really wish this car had the 2200 there are so many crappy designs on this motor its not funny.Would a 2200 bolt up the same as my current motor or would i have to change stuff?
Not sure on that. Just do the proper maintenance and the motor will be fine, they are very reliable, just have to take care of it and expect a little bit of problems like a typical car.
ok well we got the thermostat in and new coolant but it still runs up to the white line right before the warning yellow but doesnt go above even if u drive it, were letting it cool now so we can pop the cap and make sure we have enough water added
