Okay, I want to see if anyone has thoughts before I go get the code/s read, because I'm a bit nervous driving the car and causing more damage. So I guess it is story time.
So It started with the new exhaust head being installed; I began to overheat when we forgot to put a screw in the water pump. (tired, a few beers, don't ask) Pump was giving out anyway, so I replaced that. The car was still badly overheating: it redlined the thermostat (260) a couple times before I could pull off. Searched around and found a couple cracks in the radiator. So I replaced the radiator. Got the car running, no more overheating.
In order to check the integrity of my repairs, I got the car up to 2500 rpms and checked for leaks. Somehow that ended up tripping check engine light. car is still running fine, got home from the garage. The odd thing is, I started getting a thumping noise/shake right before i parked the car, and it smelled like discharged electricity. Gonna replace the sparkplugs, wires, and possibly the coil packs in a bit here, but i can not pinpoint the thumping. Could have been anything; I only had a few seconds to pay attention to it.
Anybody have any ideas on wether or not it is safe to drive to the shop/ thoughts on what it might be? I do not want to destroy my engine to go see what is wrong with it...
P.S.: If you don't bother looking at my profile, I am driving a 2000 Sunfire LN2 with a three speed auto at the moment.
I'll eventually take the time to put something here. I swear.
