I just need to know if the 1998 2.4 fit into a 2000 z24 ????
So I should use the knock sensor out of the 2000 motor and put it in the 1998 motor then? No wiring/ computer issues or trans issues? just tap out for the helicoil? Is there anything else? I got a sweet 1998 z24 vert and got smashed today in the drivers side and found this 2000 z24 vert with a blown motor for 600! I need to jump on this deal, so any more info before I dive in would really be appreciated!
hey I didnt see the pics at first! Thats great info! I have a helicoil set so I might just have one!
yeah... like i said, just make sure you use the fuel system and exhaust system off the 2000, but thats stuff you'd just leave in the car when removing the engine anyway.
all you gotta do is change out the knock sensor. you'll be set. if you want the theory of a bit more power (likely not even noticeable) you can use the intake manifold off the 98 motor. (the 2000 version has a lip on the inside edge of the throttle body flange that is a flow hindrance.)
LOL and if you are feeling really frisky.. you can swap the pistons in ur 98 out for the ones in the 2000. the 98's are dished, the 2000's are flat tops.
If it takes forever.... I will die trying. Underdog Racing
The motor I am using is a 1998 motor, going into a 2000 z24. the 2000 motor is supposedly blown, so I figured just pull the motor and tranny out of my 98 and drop it into the 2000 and salvage what I can off of the 2000 motor, and dont know what I am going to do with the smashed 98. Should I change the tranny fluid when I pull the motor? Will my 98 struts fit in the 2000? I just replaced them... Oh how do I put a picture in like you did in the message? Thanks for all your info! I checked out your white cav, and man you did just about everything to that machine!
Trans is different between 98 (isuzu) and 2000 (getrag) and one of the mounting locations is different. Just keep the trans in the 2000 and bolt your 98 motor in only.
good deal thanks for all the info! I do appreciate it
