im in the process of switch a 97 cavalier front end to a 2002 i have everything for the switch but im lost on what to do with the 2002 cavalier harness since its a different main plug then the 97, what the proper way to approach this????

2 ways.

1. Read this STICKY from the exterior forum. You will need to cut off the connectors for your headlights/turn signals and wire in the correct plugs. Plugs are readily available at Autozone, Advance Auto, Napa, etc...or a junkyard. This sticky has detailed instructions, pictures, and wiring diagrams.

or

2. Go to a junkyard and pull a lighting harness from a 95-99 sunfire (maybe even 00-02, not sure of the plug size on the fuse box) and swap that into your car. Sunfires in that phase have 9007 headlight and 3357 turn/parking bulbs so you'll be set for the 00-02 cav lights.

im still not getting how some guys cant just do the harness swap. can you get pics of both ends of the 95-99 harness (female side) and the 00-02 mail side? i did this swap twice just using the 02 harness.

I personally don't like the 98-02 front end headlights are too big for me, look like bug eyes.

My 97 cavalier z24 has round (male and female)main plug for the main harness, the harness i got out of the 2002 cavalier z24 is rectangular (male and female)main plug ill try and take pics later , but for now i'm probably just going to cut of the headlight connectors and put the right ones in . thanks for the info.

some years may be different then. i think mabe i pulled mine from a 2000 or 2001. my swap was plug and play.

Are you talking about cavaliers or sunfires??

I ask because 95-99 Cavaliers had the same headlights (two bulbs for hi/low and small corner light with turn signals mounted in bumper), 00-02 had the same headlights (single light dual filiment with the large side markers), 03-05 had the same headlights ( single housing for headlight and turn signal one piece) for the cavaliers, and the 95-02 sunfires had the one large headlight with bumper signals and/or round signals, and 03-05 sunfires had the long single piece headlights/turn signals. So I wasnt sure which one you were talking about.
