Hello everyone, i am hoping that someone can help me with this issue that developed recently in my car. When i turn at any speed over 10 mph and under like 60 mph i hear a rubbing sound.
Now i went through many of the old posts about rubbing sounds while turning and many people said it was the brake pads wearing unevenly. I checked today and they were wearing unevenly due to sticky caliper pins so i fixed that and the rubbing noise is still there. I checked bearing play on both front wheels and there is none to be found. CV boots look fine, no cracks, holes or tears that i could see. I did not get any play in the tire when i was testing the wheel bearings so i don't think it is the ball joints either.
If anyone has any suggestions that would be great, i would really like to get this issue figured out.
maybe an axle possibly, check for any spots in your wheel wells that may have signs of rubbling of maybe other parts that could come in contact with other parts, maybe theres more then meets the eye as well (like bearings in the transaxle) had to say without being there and hearing the noise hope this helps
When I had a rubbing sound on my car it was the wheel bearing seal not properly positioned. I decided to both front wheel bearing preso. No more noise.
Good Luck.
Elaborate the sound, rubbing? As in tire rubbing against the fender? or a grinding kind of humming noise? vibrations? only when turning? is it both ways?
I would describe it as like a light rubbing sound, the kind of sound you hear when the tire just barely rubs on the fender. I checked the fender well though and there are no signs of rubbing that i could see. I do not have any vibrations while steering and yes as far as i can tell it is only when turning and in both directions.
Im going to explore the issue more today and if i figure it out i will check back in but please keep the suggestions coming.
i agree with the possibility of wheel bearings

i discovered the problem, after many test drives with my head hanging out the window i found that the noise was coming from the rear. i found that the rear disks without the spacers behind them rubbed on the cutoff dust plate. i put some spacers in and the problem goes away.
thanks for all the help feel free if you have any questions to ask
got to love simple problems
