I have this problem with my fan. It only comes on at certain times. For example when I first start the car, after it has been sitting for awhile, and let it idle then let it up warm up the fan comes on like normal. But when I drive it like on the highways or on the streets and let it warm up the fan doesn't want to turn on. Why is it doing this?

The fan is designed not to come on when you reach a certain speed. If it did come on at highway speeds it would deflect more air than direct.
When you turn your car off that means your parked after going somewhere and no longer have a way to cool your aluminum engine. Therefore the fan will come on to cool it down so the heat won't mess your engine up.
I'm not sure why it would come on when you first start it, unless it senses the engine being hotter than it should. Like if you just got back in your car after a two minute shut down to get something at the gas station.
Unless I'm mistaken, IF the AC is on when you start the car, the fan will come on right away.

It doesn't come on right away after I start the car. The fan comes on after it starts to warm up.

The fan turns on and shuts off, this is normal. While sitting in traffic the lack of airflow from driving will heat up the car and it will kick the fan on until you begin driving or until it cools it off to the right temp. This is all normal. However if it's lack of turning on is causing the car to overheat at times, then this is an actual malfunction. Which is it?
Like I said the fan comes on like normal when I first start the car, let it set and warm up so that's not the problem. The problem is when I start driving it around town and then come at a stop light or slow traffic the temp start going up because the fan never wants to come on unless I turn on the a/c.

Are you sure it won't come on at all? My car's fan won't come on until it nearly reaches the 2nd white line before it hits the yellow area. Previously, when it didn't work (it miraculously started working again when I got a coolant flush) I'd turn the heat on and from the heat entering the passenger area it would cool the car.
Well when I have a chance I'll double check again, but the temp does gets pretty high and it never turns on. What I did one time is stopped at an auto parts store while it was still running and waited to see as the temp raise and see if the fan will turn on. The temp got pretty high but never got to the red mark so I just turned the car off, I didn't want to overheat it.

You have an LN2 they run hot, if your fan wasnt turning on like it should you would have spiked the temp gauge very quickly.

I think bigfoot is blurry,
that's the problem. It's not the photographer's fault. Bigfoot is blurry. And that's extra
scary to me. There's a large, out-of-focus monster, roaming the countryside.

Is there anyway to help it run cooler?

HPTuners to reprogram the fans on off temps.
Spal cooling fan
Griffin rad
Or in my case a combo of all 3.
There is other options as well that I am not a fan of like wiring in a manual override switch for the fan or having the fan wired to run at all times with the ignition being on.
