01 rear brake noise

ok ive been through all the brakes post here and stil cant figure out the problem. My wifes 01 cavalier z24 , it have new drums new shoes and new hardware kit, and now is making a knocking sound when the brakes are aplied. like knock.....knock....knock... Does any one have a solution for this....?

Are you sure the springs are on right?
Also check to see if you have the shoes on right...iirc the smaller shoe faces forward,and the larger shoe towards the back.

I'm trying to figure this out as well..

Everything is together right on my end. Still making the noise.

to let the guys know that hade info for me i took it all apart and every thing seemed in place , one hook on the upper spring was caught on top of the other spring, so i put it in to place and thin swaped the drums around, and it work so somthing i did worked .. thanx guys

Hum... Your the second person that has swapped the drums side to side that fixed the problem....

I hade a problem like this, i got new drums and it was the same, got those NEW drums cut and it fixed it. funny as they were "new".

Well, my noise is gone. New shoes fixed the problem. We'll see how long it lasts. Hopefully it won't come back.

well crap the noise came back just yesturday. iam at a loss. Im not sure the the problem can be. does any one have this happen to them and or maybe know what the deal is?????

Did u try putting some anti seize compound on the drum brake plate, I think there is 2 or 3 points where the brakes shoes rub on the brake plate it common. Also my guess would be that the shoes aren't seated together properly. I had the same issue. My problem was that the brakes shoes weren't installed properly. Could have an issue with your'e wheel cyl's could be acting up.
