Does anyone know of a scanning devise that can diagnose while the engine is running? parts guy says they do not make one
I dont know if any part places have anything hand held that you can scan while running, but I do know the repair shops do. That may be your best bet

My $120 A-Zone tool can read live data. Is that what you want? It will not do ABS, you need a salty snap-on one for that. If looking fro mor detailed info, check with a shop, usualy will check it out for a small fee.

your $120 vatozone tool also only reads obd 2, which is not obd 1.

Autozone does sell scan tools that reads OBD1. Part # CP9145. I brought it when I had my 94 Corsica.

Yes, there are OBD I code readers.
You must realize though that OBD I is primitive. If you are expecting anything like the information you can pull from an OBD II system you will be very disappointed.
The codes are there, yes, BUT they are more of a general code that says "look in this neighborhood for the problem", not so much "replace part A"

Well I own a actron cp9110 with the cp9111 (cartridge inserted in reader)that has a screen and pretty big. This unit 6x7 and does key on or live info while driving and will record codes intermittent or hard. This unit is obd 1 or 2 capable and is no longer made!It shows everything oil press, eng temp on and on.It has a big screen and it has helped me with my old 85.I suggest going to actron's website and they will list what is available. So yes at one time they did offer but,not sure if the aftermarket like any auto stores will carry what you want.I would buy it straight from actron if they have what you want and if avail which it should be.I spent 300.00 on mine 7-8 years ago.It covers the 84-95 gms .ALL gms models not just the Js .
A MODIS will, cost about $9000 with all accessories

I have an Auto Xray XP240 that reads live data, but it looks like this model has been replaced by the EZ scan models.
