Its a 99 sunfire, and I just baught it. I know the previous owner has a child, so she probably (hopefully) was not smoking in the car. seems like liquid from the cup holer may have seeped down and caused the lighter to get stuck, but i am not sure, the area does look clean, however. I want this so i can power my portable cd player. and ideas?

personally... i'd just yank on it.. lol....

You could try some wd40 or something on it first, just remember to pull the fuse before you do..

Use vise grips, give it a good yank it should pop out.

hey gang, i got it out, but there is no power to it. most likely either the fuse, or there is so much stuff that seeped down over the years its preventing contact with my plug for my fm transmitter. it was dark when i took it out, and dark when i got to work, but i will have a closer look at it on the weekend. thanks guys

The fuse blew probably because it's not meant for a lighter, only as a power source. I think all JBODY'S were non-smoker packages in 99, I could be wrong though..

nah... i have a 99 with lighter and ashtray..

and most likely its just the fuse... they always blow..

What ever happened to aftermarket CD players? They are a dime a dozen, and I am gauranteed you can find the bezel and harness at the junkyard to save more money.
