2.4 MAP sensor help
Tuesday, December 15, 2009 1:55 PM
I have a 96 2.4 auto cavy and believe my map has gone bad, so i am going to replace it. I was wondering if I should order the oem map senor from gm or will one from my local napa or autozone suffice. Also i notice that there is a vacuum hose on the map and it seems extremely hard to remove, am i suppose to rip this hose off or is there a certain way to remove this hose without damaging it.

as long as they give you the same kinda map sensor, napa or autozone should be good. i steer clear of napa's around me, cause theyre @!#$ retarded. the hose is just a rubber hose. pull hard enough and itll come off the sensor, and the manifold. should just pop rite back on when you're done, but it's actually a good idea to replace it. especially if it's all dry and cracked like it would be in a 13 year old car. probably like a dollar at a hardware store. just bring your new map sensor to your local hardware store and find a hose that fits snug enough that it wont slide off, cut like a foot and trim it down when you get home.
